Along with the motor, Panasonic’s HMI (Human Machine Interface) system allows users to stay in control of their journey. The reimagined design enables a cleaner cockpit, and ensures better ergonomics, ideal for mountain biking and commuting. The display’s modern design is tailored to provide the rider with all the necessary data in a way that adds to – and never detracts from – the journey. 

First in-class battery technology

Powering these features is Panasonic’s trusted, industry-leading UL certified battery technology. Having established itself as an industry standard in automotive applications, Panasonic batteries provide our eBike systems with the highest-quality Lithium-Ion cells. Our built-in battery management system provides up-to-the-minute information that makes this the wholistic system users can depend on. 

Our designs always begin and end with the rider in mind, so we’ve built these systems with the flexibility for manufacturers to customize these systems with batteries from Panasonic or solutions from one of our qualified partners depending on their needs or preferences.

A century committed to cycling 

One of Panasonic’s first innovations came in 1923 with the development of the bullet-shaped, battery-powered bicycle light. At this time, most cyclists utilized oil lamps or candles when riding at night. While electric lamps were available, they were often unreliable and could only operate for a few hours. Panasonic’s bullet-shaped design gave riders a more reliable solution and could remain operable for 30 hours using three batteries. 

Then, in 1979, Panasonic leveraged its success in manufacturing bicycles and coupled that with our prowess for electronics when we introduced our first electric bicycle designed to make cycling easier and more comfortable.  

Freedom, sustainably 

As the impacts of the climate crisis become more prevalent in our daily lives, many have adopted lifestyle changes to reduce our individual carbon footprint. Panasonic shares this urgency to act and are committed to changes across our business. Our investment in providing reliable, sustainable eBikes is just one small piece of this plan, but that is not to say it’s insignificant: An individual eBike can reduce CO₂ emissions by 225 kilograms each year when used in trips that would’ve otherwise required a car, according to National Geographic.
